Resolution
Can I use the 'Update Active Directory Connector Accounts' (ADC Update) wizard in a project and then translate security for these accounts?

fix
The Update Active Directory Connector Accounts (ADC Update) wizard is only available at the global level and is not available within a project.
After performing the ADC Update, the source and target account mapping is retained by DMA. This allows you to perform security translation tasks. We recommend that you perform subsequent migration tasks on these accounts using the global wizards. You may translate security within projects, but we do not advise it because of the following risks:
- If you select these user accounts and migrate them in a project, you may overwrite some of the properties of accounts that you have created with ADC.
- If you migrate source users in a project after running ADC update, it is possible that a new target account will be created instead of updating the existing target account. This can happen if the source SAMAccountName is not the same as the target CN, hence there will be no conflict for DMA to resolve and a new account will be created.
To translate security within a project in this scenario, use the following procedure:
- Users exist in the target domain that have been created by ADC.
- Run the Update Active Directory Connector Accounts (ADC Update) wizard at the global level.
- Create a project.
- Add users to the project using the 'Select Objects' wizard.
- Use the Migrate Computers or Translate Security Settings wizard within the project. However, DO NOT remigrate the users.
