Error: 'The DRA Agent's interface is used to unregister the DRA server from it. The attempt to get the interface from the agent on DC failed' when trying to uninstall agent using eaagentutil

symptom
Users must manually specify the DRA server in the form \\draserver when launching the DRA MMC.

cause

This issue can be the result of the following:

• Distributed COM is not enabled on the DC.
  
• The permission on the Program files directory on the DC  have be customized where the system and administrators group have been removed or changed access permissions.
  
• The Admin$ share has been removed from the DC.
  
• A third party application like ISS has a security policy to stop the ability to connect to shares on the DC.

 

fix

To resolve, please refer to the following:

• Enable Distributed COM on the DC.  To do this, log into the DC and select Start | run and type dcomcnfg.  Select the 'Default properties' tab and verify that 'Enable Distributed COM on this computer' is selected.
  
• Give the system and Administrators group full control to the program files directory and its subdirectories.
  
• Recreate the 'admin$' share on the DC.
  
• Modify the ISS security policy to allow the ability to connect to network shares.
