Does the membership of a target group get updated when I migrate if I 'Map and Merge Groups' before migrating users?

fix

When the source users are migrated, the target user accounts are placed in the target mapped group.

The Map and Merge Groups wizard does not actually migrate user or group accounts. It only creates mappings in the project database. The Map and Merge Groups wizard simply maps a 'group account' or 'multiple group' accounts in the source domain to a 'single group' account in the target domain.

The recommended best practice is to run the Map and Merge Groups wizard before migrating users.  This creates a mapping from the source group(s) to the target group, but does not actually migrate any accounts.  You can then run the Migrate User Accounts wizard.  When you migrate users that are members of the source group that has been mapped, these users are automatically added to the membership of the target group by Domain Migration Administrator.

Run the Map and Merge Groups wizard once for each set of groups that you want to map to a single group in the target domain.
