To save a registry hive or key to a file:
- Open the Registry Editor (regedt32).
- Navigate to the registry hive or key to save to a file.
For example, if HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE is selected, the file will contain this registry hive, including all sub-keys in the same hierarchical format.
- Go to Registry | Save Key.
- Select a location to save the file to.
- Type a name in the "File Name" field.
- Click Save.
