Win2000_DNSSecureUpdate Knowledge Script
Situation
Error: This KS can only run on Windows 2000 DNS Server. Failed on Counter: secure update failure.
Resolution
To verify these counters exist and are accessible via Windows Performance Monitor:
- Launch Performance Monitor.
- Click Add.
- Choose Select Counters From Computer.
- Enter the host name of the Server being monitored (\\ComputerName)
- Select the appropriate Object from the Performance Object list.
- Choose Select Counters From List.
- Select the Counter to verify.
- Choose Select Instances From List.
- Select the appropriate Instance.
- Click Add. This will verify that the counter exists and is accessible.
NOTE: If any of the counters are not listed or do not properly log information in Performance Monitor, please contact Microsoft Technical Support for more troubleshooting information.

Cause
The Win2000_DNSSecureUpdate knowledge script requires access to the following counters:
Object: DNS
- Counter: Secure Update Failure
- Counter: Secure Update Received
- Counter: Secure Update Received/Sec
Instance: _Total
