Error: 'Error changing the property mSNPAllowDialin' when modifing user's dialin properties

Modifying a user's dial-in properties in a Windows 2000 Active Directory environment works correctly but doing so in an NT4 domain generates the following error message:

Error changing the property mSNPAllowDialin

cause

This error message is a result of a problem in Directory and Resource Administrator version 6.40 and earlier.  When attempting to modify the dialin properties of a user account from the My ActiveViews node in the MMC interface, the RasPermissions and mSNPAllowDialin properties are exposed.  The mSNPAllowDialin property is a valid for user accounts in a Windows 2000 domain only.  Because Windows NT4 does not include it, attempts to modify it generate an error in DRA.

This issue is corrected in Directory and Resource Administrator 6.50.  To download the latest version of DRA:please refer to the link below:

The following workaround is available for Directory and Resource Administrator version 6.40 and earlier

  1. Launch the Directory and Resource Administrator MMC.
  2. Rightclick the Directory and Resource Administrator node and select Properties.
  3. Select the Components tab.
  4. Check the Domain Views option.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Expand the Domain Views node.
  7. Expand the domain of the user account in question.
  8. Select the user account and modify the dialin properties.
  9. Click OK.
