The following error messages are received when installing the Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) MMC interface on a machine running Windows NT 4 Operating System:

Error 1904, c:\winnt\system32\pvdt70.ocx failed to register
Error 1904, c:\winnt\system32\pvpict.ocx failed to register

After receiving the dialog box with the above error message the option to 'Retry', 'Ignore' and 'Cancel' are available.  Clicking on the Retry option displays the same error message over and over again.

cause

The above error message can be caused if the MMC version on the Windows NT machine is 1.1 or earlier

fix

To resolve this issue upgrade the MMC version to MMC 1.2 or later and run the Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) installation program.  If the error message is received after upgrading to MMC version 1.2 or later manually register the pvdt70.ocx file located in the c:\winnt\system32 directory by performing the following steps:

1. Launch a Command Prompt.
   
2. Connect to the c:\winnt\system32 directory.
   
3. Type in REGSVR32 pvdt70.ocx and hit Enter
   
4. Then Type in REGSVR32 PVDPICT.OCX and hit Enter

 After the two OCX files have successfully been registered run the DRA installation program.
