Security Manager provides a security monitoring and management solution for your enterprise. The following sections outline key enhancements and resolutions provided by this release:

Provides ISS RealSecure ActiveKnowledge Module

The ISS RealSecure module is designed to assist your organization in collecting, evaluating, and presenting data collected using the Internet Security System (ISS) RealSecure product. By detecting, alerting on, and automatically responding to critical events, this module helps indicate, correct, and prevent possible configuration problems and external intrusions or attacks.

The ISS RealSecure ActiveKnowledge module is licensed separately and is available in addition to standard Security Manager features. For more information about additional licensing, contact your NetIQ sales representative.

Provides Cisco Secure PIX Firewall ActiveKnowledge Module

The Cisco Secure PIX Firewall ActiveKnowledge module provides Security Manager with the ability to read, monitor, and manage Cisco Secure PIX firewalls. By detecting, alerting on, and automatically responding to critical events, this ActiveKnowledge module helps indicate, correct, and prevent possible configuration problems and external intrusions or attacks.

The Cisco Secure PIX ActiveKnowledge module is licensed separately and is available in addition to standard Security Manager features. For more information about additional licensing, contact your NetIQ sales representative.

Includes Updated Directory and Resource Administrator ActiveKnowledge Module

This release includes the latest version of the Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) ActiveKnowledge module. The DRA ActiveKnowledge module with the NetIQ Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) product installed in the configuration group monitors DRA Administrator and Agent services for functionality and security violations.

DRA keeps your Active Directory data consistent and secure at the object level. Through the DRA security model, you can control, automate, and standardize how your system administrators manage your enterprise. This dual-key security model responds to your changing needs, providing a dynamic and scalable solution. With DRA, you can streamline your enterprise while eliminating unnecessary costs. For more information about Directory and Resource Administrator, contact your NetIQ sales representative.

Includes Updated Microsoft Windows Security ActiveKnowledge Module

This release updates the Microsoft Windows Security ActiveKnowledge module to provide processing rules for Windows XP computers. These rules provide the same monitoring functionality that this ActiveKnowledge module has been providing for Windows 2000 computers. This ActiveKnowledge module also provides a rule to monitor the Internet Connection Firewall, which is included with the Windows XP operating system.

Includes Updated Anti-Virus ActiveKnowledge Modules

Includes Security Analyzer ActiveKnowledge Module

This release includes the Security Analyzer ActiveKnowledge module. Security Manager can integrate with the NetIQ Security Analyzer (Security Analyzer) product to detect vulnerabilities within your enterprise network. Security Analyzer is the industry's most comprehensive vulnerability assessment application that, when paired with Security Manager, provides a powerful, integrated vulnerability assessment and real-time security incident management solution. Supports Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 P>

Security Manager now supports Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 to access the Web Console.

Updated Today Tab Look-and-Feel

Security Manager provides an updated Today tab with a new look-and-feel. The Today tab displays summary information about the condition of the configuration group. This handy view lets you quickly check alerts and events from a central console window, without having to browse multiple detailed views.

New Getting Started Tab

The new Getting Started Tab displays tasks to add managed computers that you want to monitor, enable auditing, install agents immediately on managed computers, populate computer groups with computers, customize rules, configure global settings, configure notification groups, and view alerts.

Resolves Output Directory for Reporting Issue

If you installed Security Manager in a folder other than the C:\Program Files\MCS one point folder, you had to manually configure the Reporting Microsoft Access database to point to the folder where you installed Security Manager. This release resolves this issue.

Resolves Remote Access Connection by Users Report Issues

The Remote Access Connection by Users report included only Remote Access Server (RAS) data for Windows NT 4.0 servers. This release replaces this report with two new reports: Remote Access Connection by Users for Windows NT and Remote Access Connection by Users for Windows 2000 and XP. These reports also provide information for Routing and Remote Access Connections (RRAS).

This release also corrects an additional issue for the Remote Access Connections by User report. The time displayed in the Connected and Disconnected columns was incorrectly calculated. Security Manager now displays the local time for the location of the RAS server.

Resolves QueueManager Use of Excessive CPU and Memory

Security Manager 3.50 corrects an issue where QueueManager.exe used excessive CPU time and memory.
