symptom
Public Folders (PF's) that have been homed on a target server prior to migration do not re-ACL correctly with mailboxes that have been migrated after the rehoming of the PF's.

fix

We have two options to offer which you may consider in this scenario.

  • Manually set the permissions so that the target mailbox has the appropriate access.

    OR
  • Rehome the Public Folders back to the source side and make sure that the permissions are in order, then complete your mailbox and distribution list migrations.  Once you have your mailboxes and distribution lists migrated to the target, you will need to run use the Update Source Public Folder Permissions option.  Select your project in the left pane of the main window and click Update Source Public Folder Permissions on the Action menu.

note

NetIQ recommends that you update public folder permissions after each time that mailboxes are migrated to the target Exchange server.
