Situation

Which logs need to be gathered when Vivinet Assessor fails to install?
What files should be sent to Technical Support when Vivinet Assessor fails to install?

Resolution

In the event where you experience an issue during the installation of NetIQ Vivinet Assessor, check the following.

  1. Ensure that you attempt to install from a local drive (not from a network drive).

  2. Shut down any other unnecessary applications before installing.

  3. Upgrade your operating system to the latest available service pack.

  4. Restart the machine and attempt the installation again.


In addition, obtain the following information.

  1. Are any versions of SQL Server, MSDE, or Visio installed? If so, for each instance, note which version and application service pack (if applicable) is installed/applied.

  2. Is this a new Vivinet Assessor installation or an attempt to upgrade?


Finally, obtain the following log files and send them in a single zipped file to Technical Support. 

sqlsp.log
sqlstp.log
dahotfix.log
dasetup.log
redist.log
VoIP_Assessor_Setup_Log.txt
VoIP_Assessor_Setup_Log_Deferred.txt

From a command prompt, use the following command to list all of these files.

dir %windir%\sq*.log %windir%\da*.log %temp%\redist.log %temp%\voip*.txt
