Situation

Error: Failed Password Verification for Login
Error when Attempting to Save a Windows password

Resolution

To use a Windows Domain Account when monitoring SQL Servers, confirm the following:

  1. Both NetIQ Services on the target Server are set to LogOn As the same Windows Account and have enough permissions to access the SQL Server and appropriate databases.
  2. The field for "Login" is left blank in the Job Properties for any SQL knowledge script.
  3. This Account is not stored in the AppManager Security Manager (only SQL logins and passwords are required in the AppManager Security Manager).

Cause

This error message appears because the AppManager Security Manager does not accept a Windows Domain Account as a valid value under the SQL tab.
