Running Discovery_SQL and getting the following error message: 'SQL discovery is not applicable' (NETIQKB2775)

Environment

NetIQ AppManager 6.x
NetIQ AppManager 7.0.x

Situation

Running Discovery_SQL and getting the following error message: 'SQL discovery is not applicable'

Resolution

Save the SA password for the particular SQL server with the "Save SQL password" mechanism by doing the following:

  1. Go into the AppManager Operator Console .
  2. Pull down the "Extension" menu.
  3. Select "Save SQL password".
  4. Select the appropriate computer name.
  5. Enter sa as the SQL login.
  6. Enter the SQL password appropriately.
  7. Click on Save.
You can save the sa password through the AppManager Security Manager as follows:

  1. Go into AppManager Security Manager.
  2. Select the SQL server computer name which returns the error upon discovery of SQL.
  3. Click on the SQL tab.
  4. Enter the SQL sa password.
  5. Click logon.

Cause

The sa account password was not yet saved into the repository for the discovery script to pull.

After installing the SQL Managed Object [MO] the Discovery_SQL Knowledge Script is automatically kicked off.

After saving the SQL sa password, re-run the Discovery_SQL Knowledge Script on the same SQL server.
