'Error 25200: The setup detected another NetIQ Administration product component other than the MMC interface. Uninstall the NetIQ interface on this computer and run setup again.'

This error message is encountered when running the setup program to upgrade the MMC client, Reporting and Query Tool, and File Security Tool in the following manner:

1. Run the setup program on a client machine running a previous version of the MMC client, Reporting and Query Tool and the File Security Tool.
2. Select the MMC interface and CLI button.

cause
Setup will generate this error if it detects previously installed components which it is unable to upgrade.

fix
To upgrade the NetIQ Administration clients without generating the above error message, perform the following steps:

1. Run the setup program.
2. Select Begin Setup.
3. Click the Administration Server button.
4. The setup program will detect any previously installed components and display a message offering to upgrade them. Click Yes.
5. Click Next.
6. Select the desired components and click Next.
7. Select the Custom option.
8. Click the NetIQ Administration Server category and choose Entire feature will be unavailable option.
9. Click Next.
10. Click Finish.
