'Complex password option' in the 'Password Options' window of the 'Specify Migration Settings' Wizard

If you choose the option to assign complex passwords during the migration of user accounts from an NT4 or Windows 2000 domain, then the complex passwords that are created can be used until the password is required to be reset through DRA or native tools on the Win2K target domain. When the password is reset through DRA or native tools, then the W2K DRA or native tools policy will take effect, and the new password will have to conform to this policy with respect to complexity and possibly length requirements.

From DMA Online Help

Generates a complex password for each migrated user account. This option allows you to specify a file name in the New password output file field. Domain Migration Administrator records the new, generated passwords in the specified file.

'Same as user name' option in the 'Password Options' window of the 'Specify Migration Settings' Wizard

If you choose the option to generate a password that is the same as the username when migrating user accounts from an NT4 or Windows 2000 domain, then the password that is created can be used until the password is required to be reset through DRA or native tools on the Win2K target domain. When the password is reset through DRA or native tools, then the W2K DRA or native tools policy will take effect, and the new password will have to conform to this policy with respect to complexity and possibly length requirements.

From DMA Online Help

Sets the password for each copied user account to the first 14 characters of the user account name. This option allows you to specify a file in the New password output file field. Domain Migration Administrator records the passwords in the specified file. If you migrate service accounts, complex passwords are always generated for service accounts.

'Copy password from source user' option in the'Password Options' window of the 'Specify Migration Settings' Wizard

If you choose the option to copy the password when migrating user accounts from an NT4 or Windows 2000 Mixed Mode domain with an NT4 BDC, then the password that is migrated can be used until the password is required to be reset through DRA or native tools on the Win2K target domain. When the password is reset through DRA or native tools, then the W2K DRA or native tools policy will take effect, and the new password will have to conform to this policy with respect to complexity and possibly length requirements.

From DMA Online Help

Copies the password from the source user account. If you select this option, the source domain is running Windows 2000 mixed-mode, and the target domain is running Windows 2000 native-mode, the Name of NT4 BDC text box is available
