Error: Remote calls are not allowed for this process

When attempting to launch the NetIQ Administration MMC interface or the Accounts and Resource Management or Delegation and Configuration Management console, the following error message is received:

Error: Remote Procedure Calls are not allowed for this process message is returned when attempting to launch the DRA client interface on a machine
cause
The above error message is received if DCOM is not enabled on the machine on which the DRA client machine is being launched.

In some cases the client machine may have to be rebooted in order for the DCOM changes to take effect.

cause
The above error message is received if DCOM is not enabled on the machine on which the DRA client machine is being launched.
fix
In order to resolve the above error, perform the following steps on the client machine:
Windows 2000 and earlier
- From the Start menu select Run
- Type DCOMCnfg
- Click OK
- In the Distributed COM Configuration Property window select the Default Properties tab
- Check the 'Enable Distributed COM on this computer' option
- Click Apply
- Click OK
Windows XP and 2003
- From the Start menu select Run
- Type DCOMCnfg
- Click OK
- In the Component Services MMCselect My Computer under Component Services|Computers
- Right-click My Computer and select Properties
- Selec the Default Properties tab
- Check the Enable Distributed COM on this computer option
- Ensure that Connect is selected for the Default Authentication Level:
- Ensure that Identify is selected for the Default Impersonation Level:
- Click OK
