Resolution

fact
Operations Manager 3.30

fact
Security Manager 3.30

symptom
When Operations Manager/Security Manager and Directory and Resource Administrator are on the same machine, one causes the other to have a Dr. Watson error.

symptom
When both the OnePoint service (the service that runs OM/SM) and the OnePointAgent service (the service that runs DRA) are running on the same machine, one of the services will terminate, causing a Dr. Watson error.

cause
Part of the OnePoint service's logic is to kill any running process that starts with 'onepoi' upon start up. This is in an effort to prevent multiple OM/SM processes of 'OnePoin~1' or 'OnePoint' from running at the same time. However, this logic also kills OnePointAgent.exe. Having two or more OnePoint processes running often results in a Dr. Watson.

fix
A hotfix (Hotfix 1) is available for Operations Manager 3.3 to resolve this issue. Also, this issue is resolved in the latest version of Operations Manager and Security Manager (version 3.3 SP1). NetIQ recommends that customers upgrade to the latest version of the product.

note
This problem is resolved in the latest version of Operations and Security Manager (version 3.3 SP1).
