Resolution

Fact

Directory and Resource Administrator 6.x

Symptom

Error: 'Page cannot be displayed' received after launching the client interfaces for Directory and Resource Administrator.

After launching the Directory and Resource Administrator MMC interface, the following error may be received:

"The page cannot be displayed."

Launching the Directory and Resource Administrator Web Console may generate the following error message:

"Http: 500 Page Cannot be Displayed"

Cause

This is not a problem related to NetIQ products but is instead related to the Internet Information Services (IIS) configuration. A review of the Internet Information Services (IIS) log file (typically located in the C:\WINNT\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1 directory) reveals references to Disallowed Parent Path.

This is caused by disabling ASP's parent paths for a Web site or application while using relative parent paths in an include statement.

Fix

To resolve this issue in DRA 6.5 and prior:

  1. Launch Internet Services Manager.
  2. Right-click on Default Web Site and select Properties.
  3. Select the Home Directory tab.
  4. Click the Configuration button.
  5. Select the App Options tab.
  6. Select the Enable Parent Paths checkbox.
  7. Click OK twice and exit the Internet Services Manager.

This issue is resolved in Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) 6.6 and later.  Upgrade to the latest version of DRA to resolve this issue.

Note

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows 2000. See TechNet Article PSS ID Number: Q226474.
