Resolution

Fact
Directory and Resource Administrator 7.x

Symptom
Incorrectly receiving message during setup indicating Internet Information Server 4.0 or later is not installed

Symptom
When attempting to install Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA), the following error message is received:

Error: "Operating System Requirements.  Exit setup and install the required operating system components.
Your current installation options require the following components that have not been found. Exit setup and install the required components.
Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0 or later."

Cause
This error can occur if IIS is installed on a drive other than the C: drive. As a result, the registry entry is updated with an an incorrect path.

During the installation process, Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA) verifies that IIS is installed. For verification, the install will look at the path in the following registry value to determine where IIS is installed.

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\InetStp\PathWWWRoot

When the DRA installation references the incorrect path in the registry, it will not find the necessary IIS components.

Fix
Verify the IIS installation path in the registry and, if incorrect, update the registry value with the correct path. The Directory and Resource Administrator installation should complete successfully.
