Resolution

goal
Does Server Consolidator only run the agent on the source machine when consolidating files, folders, or shares?

fact
Server Consolidator 2.0

fix

Not necessarily. Server Consolidator optimizes use of network bandwidth by installing an ActiveAgent on the computer of your choice to initiate the consolidation process.

On the Advanced Server Options window of the Migrate Files, Folders and Shares wizard within Server Consolidator, you can specify the machine on which you want to run the agent. You may select either the Source machine or another Windows machine.

On the Advanced Server Options window, you can also select a level of logging to be performed during the migration process:

  • Errors Only (which gives you the least amount of logging)
  • Changed Files Only
  • Matched and Changed Files (which gives you the most logging)
