Situation

NT_CPUResource Knowledge Script Returns Incorrect Number of Threads on Multiprocessor Machines
The NT_CPUresource knowledge script returns a value for the number of Process Threads that is very high, possibly in the billions. The monitored machine contains multiple processors.

Resolution

NetIQ has determined this to be a problem caused by older versions of HP/Compaq SSD and Insight Manager.  
To resolve the problem, update these HP/Compaq components on the machine to the latest version.

Use the General_Counter knowledge script to monitor the following Performance Monitor Counter to gather the proper thread count:

OBJECT:  Process
COUNTER:  Thread Count
INSTANCE:  _Total


Cause

The Windows NT Performance Monitor counter used by this knowledge script returns an incorrect value for the number of threads.
