Environment

NetIQ AppManager Suite 6.x
NetIQ AppManager Suite 7.0.x

Situation

Entering the Correct OID Value Causes the General_SNMPGet Knowledge Script to Fail
General_SNMPGet Knowledge Script fails even with a valid OID provided in the job

Resolution

When entering the OID value for a MIB object for the Knowledge Script check, a preceding period must be used before the first numerical value. For example, the OID for the MIB II object system.sysname would be .1.1.2.3.6.2.1.1.5.0, not 1.1.2.3.6.2.1.1.0.

Cause

The complete OID value must be entered, including a preceding '.', before the OID for the General_SNMPGet knowledge script.

Additional Information

Formerly known as NETIQKB758

The General_SNMPGet knowledge script is designed to allow you to check for a numerical value or a text string and then raise an event on the failure to match the text string or if a numerical value for an object is out of range.

The General_SNPMGet knowledge script should use the numerical value for an object rather than its plain text name. The plain text name may be used, but if that name is not stored in the mib.bin file of the remote system the knowledge script will fail.
