Situation

How do I configure an AppManager Agent to only accept jobs from a specific AppManager Management Server?

Resolution

To configure an AppManager Agent to only accept jobs from a specific AppManager Management Server:

  1. Open the Registry Editor (regedt32).
  2. Navigate to:

              HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NetIQ\AppManager\4.0\NetIQmc\Security 
  3. Double-click AllowMS.
  4. Change the default value, *, to the host names (or IP addresses) of the AppManager Management Servers allowed to start jobs on this AppManager Managed Client (delimited by commas), in the String Editor.
  5. Restart the NetIQmc (3.x)/NetIQ AppManager Client Resource Monitor (4.x, 5.x) service.

NOTE: The default setting is *, which allows access for all AppManager Management Servers.  This feature is also configurable during the installation of the AppManager Managed Client.
