ZENworks Configuration Management
ZENworks Asset Management

Situation

Some MSI discovered applications don't appear in usage data.  They do show in device detailed inventory, and in usage crp files, but are missing from usage sections of the WIF and in usage reports.

Resolution

Look at how the MSI install populates HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{GUID} or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{GUID}.  Usage for MSI only discovered products requires that InstallPath be populated.

Workaround:  Submit SWID request or populate the registry key manually.

Additional Information

For local software products or fingerprinted products the path is provided by the Administrator.  For MSI only discovered products the registry is necessary to link the path to the process during usage data harvesting.
