Unable to download files from FTP server provided by a technical support.

You have opened a service request with Microfocus support center and as a part of a troubleshooting, you were provided with a new software on FTP site (ftp://ftp.novell.com). Despite you click on a given URL link, your browser does not download the file.


Newer versions of web browser (Chrome / Firefox) stopped or disabled FTP protocol features in their browsers.
If you wish to re-enable those, then you can try the following:

1. Chrome
Open a new tab and type there new URL:


and search for "enable-ftp" string. Once you find the entry, then change the settings from Default to Enable. Then click on Relaunch Now".

2. Firefox
Open a new tab and type there new URL:


and search for a string "ftp". There will be an entry network.ftp.enabled set to false. Change it to true.
