Environment

GWAVA (Secure Messaging Gateway) 6.5
GWAVA (Secure Messaging Gateway) 7

Situation

When I update from GWAVA 6.5 or the older SMG 7 on Ubuntu to the new current SMG SLES appliance server, I no longer see the "Zero Hour Virus" filter policy.  Either it is gone or if it is there it does not function.

Resolution

When you update from GWAVA6.5 or SMG Ubuntu to the new SMG SLES appliance server, the anti-virus solution Cyren ( as part of SMG Ubuntu ), is replaced with the anti-virus solution Bitdefender.  Bitdefender does NOT have or support the "Zero Hour Virus" filter policy.  I think that is why you would no longer see it in your list of filter policies.

If you are sure you have looked carefully, and it is just not there, then you are good.  If you were to happen to find it somewhere, I would suggest you delete it.  It is not supported.

It "may" be "possible" that someday Bitdefender could consider to implement this, but that is not currently known.

I did find this conversation on the Micro Focus community forums posts that talks about this:

https://community.microfocus.com/t5/SMG-User-Discussions/Zero-Hour-Virus-filter-not-available-on-SLES-appliance-rev-135/td-p/2829960

Cause

Unsupported virus filter policy by Bitdefender.
