Situation
Error: "_nds_ldap_bind: pam_ldap_init failed, trying to connect to the alternative LDAP server"
Error: "_nds_ldap_bind: Unable to get list of alternative LDAP servers from the config file, error [2]"
Error: "PAM_NAM: _nds_loginUser: Error: Time limit exceeded"
Error: "smdrd[#####]: segfault at 400 ip 00007f5995d4b239 sp 00007f598ffef870 error 4 in libcrypto.so.1.0.0-mf[7f5995c4d000+244000]"
Resolution
The workaround is to not load tsands. Remove "autoload: tsands" from /etc/opt/novell/sms/smdrd.conf, and restart novell-smdrd by running "rcnovell-smdrd restart".
Fixed on OES 2018 sp2 Update 2 (October patch)
