Situation

When attempting to save files in Word or Excel to an NSS location, upon clicking "save" or "save as", an error appears: "Someone else is working in '<Path\Filename>' right now.  Please try again later."  However, OES Remote Manager confirms that the file is not open or in use.

Resolution

A possible solution, unsupported by either Micro Focus or Microsoft, is to enable the undocumented "DisableRobustifedUNC" policy. For further information, see the Microsoft TechNet post: Office 2007 saving documents over mapped network drive takes abnormally long.
