Environment

GWAVA (Secure Messaging Gateway) 7

Situation

The SMG server has high utilization due to Clam AV, it is not being used, how can this be disabled?

Resolution

To disable Clam AV, do the following:

If the server is running a version OLDER than 7.0.0.59 do the following:
1) Stop Clam AV by typing, from a prompt: service clamd stop

2) To prevent Clam AV from starting up on a server reboot, type this from a prompt: systemctl disable clamd

If the server is running 7.0.0.59 or newer then do the following:

1) Log into SLES appliance vaadmin UI (https://server:9443) and click on System Services

2) Select ClamAv and set the Action to 'Stop'

3) With ClamAv still selected set the Option to 'set as manual'

This is already set this way by default, for this version.
Note: The version can be found by logging into the SLES appliance vaadmin UI (https://server:9443) and looking on the top right.
Clam AV should not be running and should not start up if the server is restarted.
