Crash or hang/freeze in Extra! display session when selecting Copy function running on Windows 10

Extra! X-treme 9.5 and higher


A crash ("The program EXTRA.exe version 9.5.1025.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed.") or a hang/freeze of the Extra! host session can occur when selecting the Copy function in an Extra! host display session while running on Microsoft Windows 10.  The problem can occur when selecting data by highlighting an area of the Host screen with the mouse and then right-clicking and selecting Copy.  When the Copy function is selected, the hang/freeze or crash will occur.  The problem can be very random and intermittent in nature and some customers will never see the problem happen.  The same problem can also occur when selecting the Copy function off the Edit menu in the Extra! session.


Upgrade to Extra! X-treme 9.5 HF5 (build 1044) or higher.

A HotFix (HF) for EXTRA! X-treme is a cumulatively built product update, intended for limited distribution, which addresses specific customer issues and enhancement requests; outside the regular Development release cycle. It is only available to Micro Focus customers with current software support and maintenance contracts, and only after contacting Micro Focus Customer Support directly.  A HotFix undergoes limited stability and quality testing and is intended for quick release to address specific product issues and should not be deployed to production environments without thorough testing.  It is recommended to upgrade to a full-release or a Service Pack version of EXTRA! X-treme when it becomes available.
