Environment
NetIQ Advanced Authentication 6.x
AAF Windows Client
Custom messages on Client workstations
Situation
Unable to customize some Messages for Advanced Authentication Clients using default 'Custom Messages' policy
Some AAF Client messages can be changed through the Custom Messages' policy, others cannot
Some of the custom messages available to be edited using the default 'Custom Messages' policy (as described here: https://www.netiq.com/documentation/advanced-authentication-62/server-administrator-guide/data/configuring_policy.html#t44bggms6wxa) will be reflected from AA Server to AA Clients; such as the following:
errors.wrong_otp_password
method.email_otp.password
method.hotp.password
method.sms_otp.password
method.totp.password
method.voice_otp.password
method.smartcard.card_reader_not_detected
However, some of the custom messages from the AA Server (like 'method.virtual_password.password') will not be reflected to the AA Clients, because their identifiers are different.

Resolution
In order to address this/modify these messages, please do the following:
1. Take aucore.custom.zip from C:\Program Files\NetIQ\Windows Client\locale\
2. Upload it in the AA Administrative Portal –> Policies –> Custom Messages.
3. Locate the custom messages you wish to change. Customize/modify them as you wish and then click 'Save' to save the changes.
PLEASE NOTE: Uploading the zip package will replace any/all previously customized server messages. At the moment it’s required to manually merged the files inside the packages from the AA server and from the AA client to have the custom localization working for the messages on the both AA Server and AA Client.
