ERROR: ndsconfig return value = 10 when installing eDirectory 9.2 on Red Hat 8

Situation

After installing eDirectory the following is seen:

On the console:

Starting the service 'ndsd'... Error: Cannot start 'ndsd', start manually.
ERROR: ndsconfig return value = 10.

From systemd:

systemd[1]: ndsdtmpl-etc-opt-novell-eDirectory-conf-nds.conf@-etc-opt-novell-eDirectory-conf-env.service: Can't convert PID files /var/opt/novell/eDirectory/data/ndsd.pid O_PATH file descriptor to proper file descriptor: Permission denied

Resolution

Place SELinux into permissive mode temporarily.

"setenforce 0"

Cause

SELinux was preventing the creation of the pid file.
