Environment

GWAVA (Secure Messaging Gateway) 6.5
GWAVA (Secure Messaging Gateway) 7
GroupWise

Situation

Users are unable to login to the QMS (quarantine). When testing authentication to the GWIA following TID https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7020935, getting 550 SSL Required after the 'auth login' command.

Resolution

When the response of  '550 SSL Required' is given after the 'auth login' command during a telnet test to the GWIA, this means the GWIA's ESMTP settings is set to 'Require SSL for authentication'. This needs to be disabled, in order for users to be able to login to the QMS. This can be disabled it by doing the following:

1) Login to the GroupWise Administration web UI and go to Internet Agents | GWIA

2) Click on SMTP/MIME | ESMTP Settings and uncheck 'Require SSL for authentication'

3) Click on Save, to save the changes.

This error should not appear anymore, when running the telnet test.
