Password change is not recognized for DLU user

Situation

Password changes made by a user with a Dynamic Local User (DLU) policy on one one machine are not recognized when logging in on a second machine. 

Typical duplication scenario:
User is created with password "ABC" and logs in on Workstation "1"
User logs in using password "ABC" on Workstation "2"
User changes his login password to "XYZ" on Workstation "2"
User logs in using  password "XYZ" on Workstation "2"
User logs in using password "XYZ" on Workstation "1", but this attempt fails.
User logs in using password "ABC" on Workstation "1" with the "Change your Windows password to match your network password after a successful login" checkbox checked.

Resolution

Enable the DLU policy setting "Manage existing user account (if any)". This allows the password to be updated post account creation.
