Environment

GroupWise 2014 R2 Support Pack 2
GroupWise 18

Situation

Can you install GroupWise 14 or 18 to a Windows Server drive other than the C drive, like a shared drive , like a SAN drive ?

Resolution

On the windows platform, you can only install GroupWise to a physically connected drive, example, if you only Have 1 SATA drive in your Windows server, that would be the C: drive.  If you then added a second SATA drive, that would be either the D: or E: drive on your server.  In this situation where you added a 2nd Drive, you could install to either the D: or E: drive.

However , let's say you create a Windows shared drive, like maybe and that represents a disk drive on a remote server, which let's say that is or is not on a SAN.  This is not supported as this is not a physical drive on the server.  The install might or migh not complete but the GroupWise Admin Service would not load or function properly.

Additional Information

If you would like to see this as a supported scenario, you can go to this web site and enter a request to our GroupWise development department to consider adding this to our program.
