Environment

Filr 3

Situation

When a share is created on a Net Folder for a folder that contains folders where the sharer does not have file rights on the back-end server, an error is shown and the share is not created.

Error: The following error occured trying to share, null, with John Doe, Error: org.kablink.teaming.fi.FileNotFoundException: The file [Netfolders\OfficeShares\Office1\HR] does not exist

Resolution

A fix for this has been made available of Filr 3.4.2 and later code, available over the Filr update channels.
With that release and later, the error will be less cryptic and indicate the share contains data where the sharer has insufficient rights.

Cause

Filr only allows a sharer to create a share for directory structures where the sharer has full access.
Filr 3.4.2 and later will show an error stating this, so the sharer can create a share for a sub-directory where the user has more or all rights.

Additional Information

The underlying mechanism is to prevent a sharer to grant more access to data then the rights the sharer has itself to that specific area of the network share.
