GroupWise 18
Situation
The GroupWise Secure Messaging gateway fails to successfully execute a simple test Mail Filter Policy and errors out as noted in the SMG log: /opt/gwava/services/logs/gwava-10\20180810.log, as the result of an outbound GroupWise internet message :

Resolution
To correct this issue make sure you have a fully qualified domain name listed under "Manage Domains", in the SMG "System Administration" web console :
a. "Organization/Policy Management"
b. "Domain Management"
c. When I originally created the new Domain by clicking on "Add new", it wants a
name for the new domain, I mistakenly just typed "GroupWise", rather than the fully qualified hostname (FDN) for the GroupWise Server (where the GroupWise Internet Agent resides), I was not aware it wanted a hostname rather than just a domain "name". Did not get in the "Instructions" button to put in an FDN.
Cause
Somehow the newly created Mail Filter Policy could not be located without the change as noted in this document.
