Environment

Reflection Desktop (including Pro, or for UNIX and OpenVMS) 16.0 or higher
Reflection 2014
Reflection Pro 2014
Reflection for UNIX and OpenVMS 2014
Reflection for UNIX and OpenVMS 2011
Reflection Standard Suite 2011

Situation

A Search feature is missing from the Classic User Interface mode for UNIX and OpenVMS (VT) host sessions.  The Ribbon User Interface of Reflection Desktop contains a Search field that also allows searching the Host screen.   In the "Configure Workspace Settings", in the "UI Preferences" the setting "Show Search on Ribbon" is greyed out when selecting the "Classic" UI mode.  The Search ability is also not available as an action when trying to modify the Toolbar (Menu Setup | Toolbar).

Resolution

Upgrade to Reflection Desktop 16.0 SP1 HF17 or higher (16.0.478) to get a search feature in both Classic and ClassicMDI User Interfaces of the UNIX and OpenVMS sessions only.
This feature is not available in Reflection Desktop 16.1 but will be included in the next major release after Reflection Desktop 16.1.

A "Search" text box has been added to the menu bar for Classic and Classic MDI modes in order to support similar functionality available in Ribbon mode.  This document search is supported in Classic and Classic MDI modes only, and the feature is always enabled.  The new Classic Search text box is dynamically added to the menu strip after all menu items have been added.  It is always right justified on the menu strip and is not configurable via any parameters or the Classic UI Designer.

A HotFix (HF) for Reflection Desktop is a cumulatively built product update, intended for limited distribution, which addresses specific customer issues and enhancement requests; outside the regular Development release cycle. It is only available to Micro Focus customers with current software support and maintenance contracts, and only after contacting Micro Focus Customer Support directly.  A HotFix undergoes limited stability and quality testing and is intended for quick release to address specific product issues and should not be deployed to production environments without thorough testing.  It is recommended to upgrade to a full-release or a Service Pack version of Reflection Desktop when it becomes available.
