Situation

This article explains how the IND$FILE File Transfer lists and File Transfer Schemes from EXTRA! X-treme can be used with Reflection Desktop 16, Reflection 2014, or Reflection 2011.

Resolution

Here is how the IND$FILE File Transfer list and File Transfer Scheme files from EXTRA! X-treme can be used with the Reflection Desktop 16 software:

1. Copy the *.EIL and *.EIS files to where they will be accessible to Reflection Desktop 16.
Always keep both the related *.EIL and *.EIS files together (in the same folder regardless of where they are).
One suggestion is to copy them to the C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Micro Focus\Reflection folder for go-forward use.

2. Open a Reflection Desktop IBM Host session.

3. Login to the Host Ready prompt.

4. Select "File Transfer" from the "Session" tab on the Reflection ribbon (or, if using "Classic" UI mode, from the "Tools" menu).

5. Click on the Open… button under Transfer Request.

6. A dialog box with the *.EIL files listed (along with other files) will appear.

7. Select the *.EIL file you brought over from EXTRA! and press Open.

8.  A warning error will probably appear that indicates "One or more local paths are invalid.  They have been reset to the default user directory.  Please review the paths, and save the file."
This warning typically occurs the PC file name and path location that is stored in the *.EIL file might not be the same between EXTRA! and Reflection Desktop.

9. Dismiss the probable warning error dialog by pressing OK.

10. The File Transfer list (the contents of the *.EIL file) will be displayed.

11. Select an item on the list and then select Properties to edit and update the values.

12. Click on the Run button to start the file transfer.

Additional Information

In the EXTRA! X-treme software there are two types of files used for IND$FILE transfers to IBM mainframe systems.  One file has an .EIL extension, and this is the IND$FILE transfer list of files which contains a list of individual lines for transfers up/down and the PC file name and the Host file name.   The second file has an .EIS extention and this is a file transfer scheme file, like Binary or Text.  The *.EIL file links to a *.EIS file (the File Transfer list links to a File Transfer scheme).  Both of these files are typically found in the EXTRA! schemes folder at C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Micro Focus\EXTRA!\Schemes or C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Attachmate\EXTRA!\Schemes.
