GroupWise Caching mode client unable to connect to server after upgrading POA

GroupWise 14.0.x clients in caching mode can no longer connect to the POA after upgrading the POA to GroupWise 18.x

The error displayed in the connection log: GroupWise was unable to connect to your Online GroupWise System.

No errors are reported in the POA log, the connection is simply closed.


Changing from Caching mode to Online mode allows the user to access mail.

Updating the client to 14.2.3 or to 18.x will allow the user to resume caching mode operations.


Security vulnerabilities were discovered and corrected between the POA and the client.  These changes prevent earlier versions of the client to connect in caching mode to later versions of the POA.
