Environment

GroupWise Disaster Recovery (Reload for GroupWise) 5.1
SLES 11+

Situation

Which ports need to be opened up on the firewall for NFS to connect and for GroupWise Disaster Recovery to connect and backup the GroupWise post offices and domains?

Resolution

The ports that need to be opened on the firewall for NFS are:

UDP: 111, 1039, 1047, 1048 and 2049
TCP: 111, 1039, 1047, 1048 and 2049

Cause

Most of the time the GroupWise Disaster Recovery and the GroupWise system are in the internal network, and there is no need to open up the NFS ports for the firewall.

If moving the GroupWise or GroupWise Disaster Recovery servers to a DMZ, however, the ports will need to be opened up on the firewall.
