Environment

Micro Focus Filr 3.2
Micro Focus Filr Desktop client

Situation

Filr user has contributor rights to a Filr Net Folder but when he tries to add a file to the Net Folder using the Filr Desktop client, it fails. At the same time, the Filr context menu (right click menu items) are also missing on any Filr folder or file.

The Desktop client's filr.log file shows the following error condition when this happens:

2017-05-02 18:58:17,407 [filesync-monitor] [ERROR] Exception: <class 'aca.excepts.InsufficientPermissionsError'> (aca.excepts)

InsufficientPermissionsError

When the same user logs into the Filr web interface, the following message is displayed in a pop-up window after which the user is directed to his Filr Profile page instead of his Filr My Files page:

A message from Filr: The folder is not accessible

The above message suggests that the user has a Home folder but has not been granted rights to it in the backend filesystem.

Resolution

A fix for this issue is available in the Filr 3.3 Update. With the fix in place, a user will be able to add files to Net Folders (granted he has contributor rights to do so) and will not be denied this right because he doesn't have rights to his Home folder.
