Environment

Micro Focus Filr 3.2
Micro Focus Filr Desktop client for Windows 3.2

Situation

When making changes to some Excel 97-2003 .xls format files, the first set of changes are detected and sent back to the Filr server. However, subsequent changes may go undetected and never synchronized to the Filr server. This can potentially cause some data loss without any warning to the end user.

Based on several tests, not all Excel 97-2003 .xls format files lead to the same results. The one where the problem was reproducible were the .xls files that trigger the Microsoft Excel Compatibility Checker Warning "Minor loss of fidelity - some cells or styles in this workbook contain formatting that is not supported by the selected file format. These formats will be converted to the closest format available."

Resolution

A fix for this issue is available in the Filr 3.3 Update.
