No drive mappings or server connections after logging in

Environment

Client for Open Enterprise Server 2 SP4

Situation

After logging in / authenticating to eDirectory, user has no network connections, and any drive mappings or other activity in the eDirectory login script is/are not completed.

No network resources are available.

Resolution

Fixed in Client for Open Enterprise Server 2 SP4 (IR8) or later.

Cause

A second credential manager / network provider (other than the Micro Focus Client) is creating an additional new Windows logon session during the user login process. For example, a VPN Client can create a Windows logon session.

Client for Open Enterprise Server must determine which Windows logon session was created for this interactive user logon, so that we can associate the NCP connections to that Windows logon session.  But unlike earlier Windows XP/2003 GINA-based platforms, the Microsoft credential provider framework doesn't return "which Windows logon session was created" information. We assume that the correct session is the most recently created Windows logon session, if more than one Windows logon session exists, since we just now performed the logon.  This is correct in most cases, but in some cases we associate the NCP connections to the "wrong" Windows logon session, which results in there being no NCP connections available on the user's desktop.
