Attachmate Customization Tool Fails to Run

Reflection for Secure IT Windows Server version 7.0 only


When you attempt to run the Attachmate Customization Tool using the command,
<path to administrative installation>\setup.exe /admin

you receive the following error:

Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use the Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel.


Note: This issue has been resolved in Reflection for Secure IT Windows Server version 7.1 and Reflection for Secure IT Windows Client version 7.2.

To resolve this issue in affected versions:

  • Uninstall the Attachmate product from your machine and re-install from the patched Administrative Installation Point. This ensures your Microsoft Installer package codes are identical.
  • Or, use a machine that has no Attachmate products installed to run the Attachmate Customization Tool. Note: If there is an Attachmate product installed, some configuration changes you make will not be saved in the transform.


This error may occur if the Microsoft Installer package codes differ for the Attachmate product's Administrative Installation and the Attachmate product installation on your machine, even if you have the same version installed both places. This code mismatch can happen if you apply a service pack to your Administrative Installation, and then apply the same service pack to the installation on your machine.
