EXTRA! X-treme version 9.1 or higher
Situation
- Your TN5250 SSL/TLS connection fails with a “Could not create socket†error.
- You have “Verify server identity†selected in Settings->Connection->General.
Resolution
In the Connection->General dialog box, ensure that the value entered in the “Host alias / IP address†field matches the name of the host system that you are connecting to.
Cause
Beginning in EXTRA! X-treme 9.1, Attachmate changed the source for host
name when "Verify server identity" is requested for TN5250 SSL/TLS
connections.
Prior to version 9.1, EXTRA! X-treme compared the host name contained in the server certificate with the information provided in the "Host name" field of the Connection->General dialog box.
Beginning in EXTRA! X-treme 9.1, EXTRA! X-treme compares the host name contained in the server certificate with the information provided in the “Host alias / IP address†field of the Connection->General dialog box.
