INFOConnect version 9.1 or higher
Controlling Macro Encryption
You can control macro encryption locally or in a customized deployment by using the following settings in the Global Preferences dialog box:
||When selected, macros are encrypted
when they are saved in a macro editor, such as the EXTRA! Basic Editor.
When a CASL macro is compiled the executable file (.xwc) is encrypted.
If you save an encrypted macro when this option is deselected, the resulting macro will contain no encryption.
|Encrypt existing macros when they execute
||When selected, macros are automatically encrypted when they are executed.
When a CASL macro is compiled or executed, the source file is also encrypted if it is in the same directory as the macro and is not write-protected.
|Execute only encrypted macros
||When selected, only encrypted macros can be executed.
If the source file for a CASL macro is newer than the macro and is unencrypted, the automatic compile will fail and the macro will not run.
Macros Are Not Encrypted
When the "Encrypt existing macros when they execute" setting is selected, macros will not be encrypted if any of the following are true:
- You are running the macro from a floppy disk drive, a mapped drive, a UNC network, or a CD or DVD.
- The macro is a read-only file or is in a location protected from user file saves. (To make the macro file writable, you must deselect Read-only in the macro fileâs properties.)
- You use an older version of the product (EXTRA! 9.1 or earlier or INFOConnect 9.0 or earlier).
- The "Encrypt macros" check box in the Global Preferences dialog box is cleared.
Encrypted Macros Will Not Run
Encrypted macros will not run if you use an older version of the product (EXTRA! 9.1 or earlier, or INFOConnect 9.0 or earlier).
