Environment
Situation
This technical note describes how to retain the graphical display of HotSpots and QuickFields after focus switches to another window. This information may be of particular interest to former users of IBM Personal Communications (PComm), Host On-Demand (HOD), and/or Screen Customizer products.
EXTRA! X-treme supports HotSpots and QuickFields features to provide a graphical look-and-feel to elements of text-based host applications. When QuickFields is enabled, all enterable (unprotected) fields are displayed with white background for easy recognition of input areas.
By default, the graphical display of HotSpots and QuickFields becomes unrendered when the EXTRA! terminal session no longer has focus. (Focus is lost when the session is no longer the active window or frame, such as after clicking the Scratch Pad productivity tool or a different application window.)
Resolution
Beginning in EXTRA! 9.0 Service Pack 1, you can change this behavior as follows:
- Open your session *.edp file in a text editor.
- In the [HotSpots Globals] section, add the following line:
PersistOnLostFocus=1
- Save the modified *.edp file and restart your session.
