How to Display Total Search Hits on Search Page

Situation

I want the total number of items found (hits) to be displayed on the Search screen when a user performs a search.  Can Retain do this? 

Resolution


Yes.  It is a setting in the misc.properties file.

Linux Path

/opt/beginfinite/retain/RetainServer/WEB-INF/classes/config

Windows Path (Default)

[drive]:\Program Files\Beginfinite\Retain\RetainServer\WEB-INF\Classes\Config

Instructions

  1. Open the file and search for "search.show.total=". 
  2. Change the value from "0" to "1".
  3. Save your changes.
  4. Restart tomcat.

After you make the setting change, your searches will show the number of hits:
