Situation

How to use a central QMS database for multiple GWAVA servers.

Resolution

Before you start, make sure port 49282 is open between the GWAVA servers.  This port is used to send quarantined mail from the Slave to the Master QMS.

For the GWAVA server that will be your central QMS database:

1) Open GWAVA Management Console

2) Browse to Server/Interface Management -> server -> Server Management -> Configure Server -> Advanced QMS settings.

3) Make sure that QMS role is set to Master

4) Save and exit

For the GWAVA server(s) that will send QMS mail to the central QMS:

1) Open GWAVA Management Console

2) Browse to Server/Interface Management -> Server -> Server Management -> Configure Server.  Scroll down to the bottom and click the link to Show Advanced QMS settings.

3) Set QMS role to Slave

4) Set QMS parent server to [custom] or if the server's are networked together choose the server in the pull down menu.

5) For Custom QMS master address, put the IP to your central GWAVA QMS server.

6) For Custom QMS master login, put the login name for a GWAVA adminstrator account to that server.

7) For Custom QMS master password, put the password to the login name for step 6.

Note: Steps 5, 6, & 7 can be ignored if you chose a GWAVA networked server instead of custom.

8) Hit 'Save Changes'.
