Environment

Reload (all versions)

Situation

I see this error about my system being out of disk space in my Event log. How do I correct this issue?

Resolution

Every time Reload runs a job, it checks the available disk space first to confirm there is room for the backup. If there is not enough disk space, then you will see an error similar to this in the Event log:

DATE: Mon_Sep_22 TIME: 01:01:41 PROFILE: TESTPROFILE - DISK SPACE IN USE AT JOB BEGINNING: 91%

There is a similar error in the Agent log which is more detailed.

[GRE_CONNECTION_TERMINATOR] Disconnecting from profile: testprofile There are various ways to make more space available. You can offload other programs to another system. You can reduce the number of full backups you keep. You can add additional disk space to the system. You can set-up a profile that will store the backups on network storage. And more. There are numerous methods of resolving this issue. However, if you need to clear some space immediately in order to get a new backup, the best method is to remove the oldest portable backup until you can implement a more permanent solution. To remove that backup, follow these steps:
  1. Load the terminal Reload menu
  2. Go to Administer Profiles and select your post office profile
  3. Select the Portable Backup (Full) Configuration Menu
  4. Change the number under Portable Backups (Full) to Retain to one less than what it is normally
  5. Return to the Main Menu
  6. Go to Start/Stop Jobs
  7. Select the option to Start a Backup Job
  8. Select your post office profile
  9. Select Advanced Job Choices
  10. Select Portable Backup (Full) Expire Process
  11. Confirm the job
The system will now remove the oldest portable backup to free up space on the server.
